Procedural Text

This term, we have been learning to write procedural texts.

WALHT: Write a procedural text.

We include:

  • Materials
  • Ingredients
  • Method
Our method has:
  • Step by step instructions
  • Begins with the TIME words - First, next, after, finally, last
  • Use verbs to describe WHAT to do eg. Stir, mix, spread
  • DO NOT include the pronouns I or WE. You are telling the audience how to do something so use the words YOU eg. You stir the mixture.

Have a look at some of our writing.

Here it goes.....POP....POP...POP!

HOW TO MAKE  A POWERFUL RIVERDALE LEARNER.

Here are some more examples of procedural texts using our school values as ingredients.

  1. Kia Ora Waihirere class,
We liked your procedural writing because it taught us how we can make popcorn. It looked like it was fun that you got to make popcorn.
Did you get to eat the popcorn?

Thank you for your positive, thoughtful, helpful comments.
Positive - something done well
Thoughtful - a sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say
Helpful - give some ideas for next time or ask a question you want to know more about
